Class III - OUR MOST POPULAR TRIP - IDEAL FOR YOUTH GROUPS OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES!
The Klamath is our most popular trip as it offers 50 miles of exhilarating whitewater in a spectacular canyon. The moderate class three rapids allow for plenty of excitement while still being excellent for beginners and for people of all ages and abilities. Adventure Whitewater uses all paddle-boats on the Klamath which means every one is involved and must work as a team to maneuver down the turbulent stretches. The rapids, however, are not necessarily the highlight of trip. The National Wild and Scenic Klamath River provides a true wilderness experience and wildlife is abundant. We commonly see bears, river otter, bald eagles, osprey, deer and many other animals. When not enjoying the scenery water fights, team building games and swimming abound in the deep, calm pools between the rapids.
This trip also includes several "side trips", at stops along the river, up remote stream canyons to swimming holes and waterfalls. The Ukonom Creek hike is usually the favorite as a 3/4 mile stream walk ends in a truly amazing twin waterfall with a deep pool below. We also stop at several save cliff jumps along the river, where youths can challenge themselves to take a leap of faith into the river below.
Each night of the Klamath trip is spent at a spectacular riverside camp. We pride ourselves in the meals we provide and can guarantee you won't go home hungry. Our guides are not only competent on the river, but in the kitchen as well. One group claims they come back for just food! A typical dinner may include Teriyaki Chicken, rice, stir-fry veggies, salad, and cake for desert (cooked in the Dutch oven).
After dinner groups usually congregate around the campfire for worship, the roasting of s'mores, contemplation of the days events, and enjoyment of the spectacularly bright stars.
You can choose from 2-6 day duration for your trip on the Klamath. Prices are from as low as $54 per day per person.
